I had no money growing up. Luckily, all my favourite things were free. Friends, nature & learning. This was the local library. Sometimes I was the only one in it. Sometimes the odd drunk popped in to vomit. Anyway, it all turned out OK.

When I was really poor, I got so fed up having only T shirts and old sweat pants to wear that I tried to make a suit out of curtains. Now I can afford to wear anything I want. I could have suits made for me. But I decided I prefer T shirts and old sweat pants.
26 years ago, I was made redundant and given a few grand. I decided that if I was careful, I could live off the money for 6 months trying to become a comedian before I had to get another job. I was 37. Worth a punt.

When I was in my twenties, I had a cleaning job to pay for band rehearsals. If we got a gig, I would make my own posters and push the equipment to the venue in a shopping trolly. Hope is amazing.
