YTV & Adult Swim ran the show they're talking about, so I'd like to add an additional rider: nothing with a national basic cable broadcast in the US & Canada gets to be talked like this by US pop media unless it's no longer legally streaming or in print & OOPS: www.crunchyroll.com/series/G1XHJ...

Kurt Cobain, who admired in his journals how male seahorses are the ones who carry the young, who constantly said his peers in the riot grrrl scene in Olympia were underrated & underappreciated compared to other acts, who constantly exalted his rock & roll wife Courtney Love, would love yuri anime.

Hell, if only SpaceX's issues were limited to delivering on space. Instead, it's 95% predicated on Twitter becoming the most important social media site ever & that's predicated on Grok being the best AI ever, such that folks'll pay any price to use it. Mars is the most plausible part of the scam.

Great article & a good reminder even for us middle-aged folks who lost/moved away from their original 3rd spaces & would sooner spend their vacations fully vacationing, rather than shoulder to shoulder at a big con, that other options yet remain for otaku socializing in libraries & library cons. /1

Which will be eventually reflected in the social media bans. "Oh why are these platforms revenues collapsing?" Well, you banned many who were watching the ads & who might then make content to advertise against later, thus you've broken something entirely that just needed a light touch for outliers.

As a bonus, they ban the youth from shopping centers, then wonder why they're dying. Like, y'all, it was kids loitering in malls who both:
    1. kept the place afloat between holidays.
    2. eventually got jobs in the mall once they were old enough because "screw it, I am here anyway."

    So many self owns!

To further underline the point, Taylor Farms is so huge, it's nigh miraculous there's not been the same outbreak up here in Canada. I saw US-grown Taylor Farms lettuce in Costco here this week. They're a massive business, so without external regulation, they can tank recalls & point fingers all day.

News from the future: Houston-area otaku dosed with shrooms after not reading the ingredients of swag bag pack in, just like they did not read the sex-pest-filled guest list.

Realizing specialty in-person retail was low-key a jobs program for neurodivergent people. Do you love [decor/fashion/comics/music/film/fabric/yarn/crafts/model [trains/cars/planes]/make-up/tech/[car/boat/rv] parts/toys/travel/etc.]? Do you want to get paid to recommend stuff? Retail is for you!

I know a lot of people at this point were not there for Nirvana and grunge as they happened in Seattle. I barely was despite being 42 & raised in the PNW, but it was a very vocally woke, feminist, queer-friendly scene, especially compared to the very misogynist music that it was reactionary against.

Yeah, a great show often works on many levels for many people, while still pleasantly holding the basic beats down. Kaiju Girl nails the basics, while effortlessly providing a mirror for anyone whose ever felt like an outsider & in a way aiming to build empathy across groups of outsiders.

I'll never forget the time I was in a Best Buy in Spokane, WA. While grabbing a copy of the Boogiepop Phantom boxset, I saw a mom with a small child grab for the Najica Blitz Tactics v.1 w/box & before I could say "wait, no!" she saw the pack-in, slammed the box back on the shelf & stormed out 😅
