    Buster, a tan and white Australian Cattle Dog mix, lies on a cream-colored hobnail bedspread. A bunch of his toys & fragments thereof are behind him, near his butt. A little wad of toy fluff, probably polyester fiberfill, is near his front right paw. He's wearing a mostly blue collar with a steel ring; an iridescent looking tag hangs off that. If you zoom in enough on the tag, you can see it's inscribed "BUSTER." His eyes are mostly closed; he's resting after a walk.

    The main reason I left FB a couple years ago was because too many family members had gotten too toxic for me. I would dread trying to use the platform, even after blocking some of them or otherwise restricting their access. And when I realized how much dread I had, I bailed. Fuck that place.

    100 percent. Using an app is like saying I want to give the restaurant less money. You're also paying rent-seeking app bros to ask a stranger to deliver your food. I'd rather pick it up, or have someone from the restaurant deliver it: they have more of an interest in making sure it's right.

    my most peepaw-coded trait is that I angrily refuse to use DoorDash (and similar apps) because I know the markup is so insane versus “picking the food up myself” - and that money doesn’t go to the restaurant. By god, I will drive or walk my ass over to the restaurant and get it myself.

    A food stall at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park used to sell a hot dog with pork BBQ on top — the "Carolina Q Dog." They wanted a good hot dog, & chose Hebrew National. When Hebrew National found out, they stopped selling to the vendor, so the vendor had to pick another hot dog.

    Side note: over half of Russia's income is from oil. They can't balance their budget at $55/bbl. Doubling the price of oil is a godsend for Russia & OPEC.
