Google Maps really nailing the cities in the PNW here: Everett, Tacoma, Olympia, Salem, Corvallis, and Eugene. No other important ones!
Tragic: local man was just congratulating himself for sending six emails and starting to relax when half of them immediately responded
atproto community I love you but it's time for a gentle roasting
Streamplace has been live in the App Store and Play Store for TWO YEARS as of this month
One of you could have published a social-app fork by now, I believe in you
It's Streamplace's second birthday! Decided to share an essay I've been sitting on for some time, explaining my thinking on Streamplace's place in the world as a product and company. The question: is Streamplace for end users or developers? And the answer: very both.
what if atproto's moat is destroying all of the other moats
Billions of billions of dollars spent on adtech, invasive tracking on every element of our lives, and the ad I get served is “19 things to cut while living on retirement”. What was it all for?
NEW BLOG! After closely following atproto permissioned data, my take: what if an "atproto repository" is the base thing and there's more than one way to sync it? Based on @ipv.sx's take and grounded in a real-world Streamplace use case: how do I make a video private, then public?
Ironically, Streamplace bans you if you don't mention cocaine at least once per stream. Sorry, I don't make the rules! (I totally do)
This is really well-written and we should make atproto accommodate this better!
The biggest one to me: you can totally do an offline atproto repo that you sync like a git repository! Nobody really does yet but the data structure supports it, Streamplace even does hardware signing through PKCS#11
Hey if you haven't checked out @plyr.fm in a bit, take a look. @zzstoatzz.io has been really regularly grinding on it and it's quickly turning into one of my favorite atproto apps; been using the 24/7 radio as my stream backing for a couple weeks now
You can just do that? Nice. Streamplace is now the biggest app in the Atmosphere
Yeah it was something I spent a lot of time getting good at that now just doesn't matter anymore :(
The sign on the door doesn't say "Solving video for everybody forever (but only at the pace of manual coding so it's more fulfilling for me)", we got shit to do
Yeah surprised at how many people
seem to think “safety” is stern instructions in a Markdown file
Having a fully-sandboxed and VPN’d dev environment for code streaming accidentally paid off really well here; Streamplace prod credentials and LLMs stay on different hardware or else
you just can’t introduce to me something called “GLP-1” and something called “GLM-5” and expect me not to get those confused
ban open models, call that a GLP-5 inhibitor
preliminary slides for the atmoq presentation on thursday docs.google.com/presentation...
we’re doing another round of “we don’t know what consciousness is but LLMs definitely aren’t because look at this diagram” this morning huh
Really nice vibe at the Portland meetups, they’ve got me buying a train ticket once a month now, would recommend
> Keep the existing syntax, and get the IETF URI syntax rules changed
Yeah DIDs are great even outside of atproto and there’s no actual syntactical ambiguity so this is the right answer
Can arm wrestle everyone in the IETF if I need to
Hey we shipped a new Go code generator for lexicon types. Been in production for a couple weeks now 🥳
Based off of @bnewbold.net's cobalt work and @hypha.coop's go-dasl for DRISL serialization. Copies indigo's echo server stub generation verbatim. 100% compatible with @atproto/lex lockfiles.
Made an event for the ATP IETF working group tomorrow, come hang out in the stream!
