Hey Twitter refugees. If you're an Original Character artist/writer/game dev/etc, consider tagging your stuff with #OCsky so the OC enjoyers on here can find your stuff.
I also have some OC feeds (feeds are like custom algorithms and topical timelines) on my profile, in the feeds tab.
Man the thing about Ko-Fi and Patreon and stuff is like, for the price of a gacha pull per month, you can be part of the reason why someone you believe in gets to pursue what they actually want to do.
Through the power of many you can help ppl you like chase their dreams for a gacha pull per month.
If it helps:
- Suggestive = Horny/Charged
- Nudity = Generally the artistic kind
- Adult = Actually explicit stuff
- Graphic: Gore/violence/bloody/horror etc
Twitter has a "regurgitate this art with AI button".
Maybe… maybe the remaining artists will come over now…

How to Grow on BSky as an Artist:
Secret Pro Tip They Don't Want You to Know About:
1.) Have a PFP, Display Name, Handle, Banner, and Bio that make it clear you're an Artist
2.) Interact with other people's posts.
A year ago!! I sketched this at my office job cause I was so excited about BlueSky Opening Day and then half-a-year later I went back and redrew it…
Anyway yeah Happy Birthday BlueSky!!!!! Thanks for liking OC art without me having to become fanart-popular first. Best site feature honestly.
OK if Twitter and IG brainwashed you into thinking hashtags are ugly,
You can use DECK.BLUE to put HIDDEN, TUMBLR STYLE hashtags in your posts. The regular BSky site/app can't see them, but they work in search and feeds.
If you're a Twitter artist worried about how you'll be discovered without An Algorithm™, you gotta go back to hashtags. Like how people found posts on Twitter before IT had an algorithm.
Think about what communities/subcultures your intended audience belongs to, and hashtag
What I mean by this is like, there are two bystander effects with this kind of thing
1) "So-and-so is popular, so they don't need my help"
2) "In order for me to help, I'd have to contribute a lot"
1 is often not true, 2 is never true.
Omg you can YOINK your post away from someone's quote-dunk of you, AND banish certain replies to the Hidden Replies shadow realm.
This is gonna be so helpful.

Twitter Artist Refugees… Just know,
Search is good here. Hashtags are good here.
I want to see your art posts. I don't trust people to reskeet them onto my TL. Don't wait for that. I want to find them through search and custom feeds.
Being an artist and RTing another artist is like having an Artist Alley table and telling a customer who really liked your stuff that you have a friend tabling two rows down with similar merch.
It's nice.
I say it a lot,
But as a Twitter nobody(*) who became a BSky somebody(*), small artists, please browse your favorite tags on recent, or scroll underdog-uplifting art feeds and reply to/befriend the artists you find.
Waiting for someone to RT my art was part of what made Twitter bleak for me.
Ok Quiet Posters is so good it makes sure the people you follow that don't post a lot don't get lost in the cracks.
(Also you can cheerlead for them and reskeet them and boost their art)
How I comment on art:
1) I asked myself "why did I stop scrolling to look at this art more closely?"
2) I say "I love [reason why I stopped scrolling to look at that art]"
If you see someone struggling in the next few years to pay rent, or afford healthcare (including gender affirming care), or buy groceries, please support them.
Check the #MutualAid tag. All we have is each other. No one else cares about us.
Autistic Special Interests literally be like: "You will be extra passionate/skilled/knowledgeable in a limited number of things. BUT if life separates you from those things for too long, Your Soul Will Melt and You Will Explode Into Confetti."
A year ago someone told me to remind people that like, payment processor transaction fees (ie: PayPal transaction fees) on your income are deductible business expenses so please make sure to log them in your bookkeeping and show them to your accountant/tax guy.
If you buy ULINE boxes, your money goes to Extreme Right Wing Politicians and Groups.
Comic & Webcomic publishers that champion queer and diverse stories should be careful about this. Don't ship your comics in ULINE boxes. The money will go to the same people tryna ban your books.

Yeah this is why I'd rather just keep wrestling the devs and being annoying "Tumblr Users vs Automattic"-style than just pack up and leave.
We used to not have mod tools. We were so annoying that the devs gave us mod tools and Jack Dorsey got mad and left.
Kinda worried with the current state of media literacy that if I have a fictional character do/say bad things, which I'm like, currently in the process of doing, I'm gonna have to add a Sailor Moon Says™ segment to the end of the chapter like.
"What this character did is WRONGGGG and MEAANNN and—"
IDK who needs to hear this right now but Perfectionism™ is the enemy of Done™.
Just finish that thing at your current skill level and make a better one later… Ppl get more praise for putting mid things into the world than for holding back chipping away at Perfection™ and dying before finishing.
If you want to export your OC Playlists to .CSV (text spreadsheet) documents, use exportify.app
For all my fellow #OCsky OC Playlist goofballs out there
Well to anyone coming from Twitter, my main advice would be: "Make a friend, be a friend."
Comment on other people's posts and try to make peer connections. Not just fan/customer/patron connections.
