I can't believe we still have to remind people of these things but: most rape victims don't file police reports. (You're reading one right now.) Shock, denial, need to appease the rapist, nominally friendly behavior toward the rapist, etc. are all common reactions

It is really fun to live in NYC right now. The Knicks won and our mayor is basically a Disney character who just jumped into a pool with a bunch of kids and we had a ridiculously good pride and it’s hot and humid and that sucks …

As for the men wondering why women wait so long to come forward: because it's humiliating, you dumb fucks. Not because we did anything wrong but because of the way society views survivors and the fact that we're always put on trial too if we report it--as if we're also the perpetrators

Also just thinking about different Mitch McConnell’s legacy would be if he’d voted for impeachment and conviction. Had a chance to have a right side of history last roll of the dice and chickened out

If you’re self identifying as a Democrat but saying with a straight face that DSA members hate America and the job of Dems is to support free marketism, you can just march your ass over to the GOP and be done with it

One minor thing that annoys me personally about this shit is that some people romanticize a blue collar white boy aesthetic but can’t tell an actual working class backwoodser from a rich aspiring dirtbag who went to Hotchkiss

excellent @maragay.bsky.social on why the Dem establishment needs to wake the fuck up and face the fact that the electorate is to the left of them on pretty much everything: www.nytimes.com/2026/07/14/o...

The women who come forward in these cases do it sometimes because they think the man who assaulted them is going to be given the power to harm others. Christine Blasey Ford certainly didn't need the attention, death threats, scrutiny, insults, trolling, expense of accusing Brett Kavanaugh

When people pretend that women not wanting to date conservatives is them being emotional and unhinged, it tells y that they’re angry that their values are being rejected. Politics are not and have never been value neutral.

They may feel shame because we're conditioned as women to believe that we must have been complicit if it's anything except a stranger in a back alley. They may be afraid of their rapist and feel that they have to appease him or stay friendly with him to stay safe.

what makes the GOP version work is that it was and is a maximalist plan. If Dems are serious about doing something equally effective, then pack the courts, prosecute Trump apparatchiks who broke the law, fight the culture war instead of hoping it'll just go away if we ignore it, etc.

If you don't understand why you should pay attention to the stories of anyone who's experienced it. Women experience sexual assault may feel a lot of different things afterwards. They may want to pretend it didn't happen and rationalize it away.

The funny thing is - there’s no mayor in my lifetime who has studied the way NYC works or the prior mayors and the history like Zohran. No one has been more respectful toward NYC’s history

We also live in the age where mainstream Dem money won’t pay for oppo research or candidate development or capacity building but will shell out for an experimental AI campaign tool or some cloak and dagger bullshit that doesn’t work half as well as just talking to people like a normal person would

Every Pod Save-aligned bro in my feed: every candidate has flaws!
Me, person with tattoos and siblings who are veterans who knows he didn’t just fall onto a tattoo needle for 8 hours and end up with something he didn’t know was a Nazi symbol: 😐
