Today I’m playing with an idea that’s been on my mind for too long: storing design systems tokens on the #Atmosphere

My proof of concept works, and that Makes Me Happy™

This is the best thing I’ve seen online in a while 👏👏👏

Playdate’s Design Guide is a pretty nice read, even if you’re not interested in developing games for it.

I wish more systems (including design systems!) included docs like this.

I am tempted to apply to this job offer with:

“I hate your product with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

Hire me, so I can delete your main code repository and then quit on my first day on the job.

    Sincerely yours,
    Ale”

As a designer-who-codes who has learnt CSS by picking random bits here and there as needed, I’m enjoying every-layout.dev very much.

They have a 50% off Black Friday promo, and the content is well worth the price of admission.

I wrote a long piece about how I read 10x more books this year, in case it can help you do the same (or apply the same strategy to other life endeavours) ale.today/how-to-read-...

Another reason to love @astro.build is the *fantastic* community they have. I just asked a question on their Discord server, and it only took @hideoo.dev 5 minutes to determine it was a bug, and work on a fix.

100% of my interactions there have been like that. Great job, Astro team 🧡

I am taking a break from working for others, to focus on working for myself.

And I am happy to report that I still love my profession: building things out of thin air is amazing (specially when you do it on your own terms, and not following someone else’s roadmap).

The best thing you’ll read today is this article with basic graphic design concepts explained using smiley faces. Specifically: optical alignment and size adjustment to make things look pretty and balanced.

Working in tech in a Spanish company is FUN:

    - IA can mean Information Architecture, or Inteligencia Artificial (Artificial Intelligence)
    - AI can mean Artificial Intelligence, or Arquitectura de Información (Information Architecture)

Even more reasons to hate acronyms 🎉

I know I’m old school and people no longer care about these things.

But sometimes, when I feel like crying, I press ⌃ P on a Figma file with icons and remember the good old times.

You know your dev workflow is broken when you can fix an issue and push it to production while your team is discussing if the Jira card should be filed under “bugs” or under “improvements”…

Looks like the UE is (finally) working on a European OS (Fedora under the hood, plus some customization layers) using the “public money, public code” spirit.

I’m not super optimistic (we’ve seen similar initiatives come and go in Spain), but it sounds like a Good Thing™ to me.

Alguien se ha bajado los 16 DVDs que componen las 4 temporadas de ALF y se dispone a fumárselos a lo largo del verano. Ask me anything.

As an experiment, I asked ChatGPT to review my CV and rewrite some parts to improve its score in ATS systems.

Now I have something that flies through automatic checks, but that’s so full of bullshit that I’m ashamed to sharer it.

The state of hiring in tech in 2025 is *horrendous*.
