The Slaughter case, overturning precedent, returns us to a spoils system where a president can “clean house” every four years, destroying our professional, independent civil service.
Bravo to these judges, who are traveling around the country to educate the public about the importance of the rule of law!
Today’s decision in Slaughter will destroy the independence of the Merit Systems Protection Board, which will have a cascading effect on all federal employees, who have been free from political interference for 150 years. The spoils system is back, baby!
Block Blanche because he negotiated self-dealing IRS gift for Trump, fired court appointed US attorneys, bragged about cleaning house of 200 DOJ employees who worked on cases involving Trump & J6, botched the Epstein case, oversaw cases targeting Trump’s perceived enemies, welcomes Trump’s control.
Today’s SCOTUS opinion in Slaughter, allowing POTUS to fire commissioners at will, will harm other agencies, including EEOC, EPA, Consumer Product Safety Board, FCC, FDIC, SEC, Nuclear Safety Board.
Remember, senators, the most corrupt aspect of Blanche’s “settlement” with Trump was immunity from tax audits. The slush fund for the insurrectionists seemed to be just a decoy. He has walked back the slush fund, but not the immunity!

Judge dismisses Trump’s suit against Minnesota state and local police for declining to assist ICE’a deportation efforts. Do your own dirty work! Judge was appointed by … Trump.

Greetings from Marquette, Michigan, where the air is usually fresh and clear. Wildfire smog is a glimpse of our future, unless we get serious about protecting our climate.
Public servants work for the people, not for the president. This administration has distorted that mission.
House referral to DOJ for criminal investigation of Jack Smith is political gamesmanship. In this gift link, I explain why no rational prosecutor would ever charge this case.

These reflecting pools “vandals” have a great defense. No causation. You can’t destroy that which is already destroyed.

Senate needs to grill Todd Blanche on slush fund, Epstein files, firing DOJ employees, and targeting Trump rivals, but most important is his vision for AG. Does he plan to follow the rule of law or act as Trump’s puppet? My thoughts in @opinion.bloomberg.com

It’s so refreshing to see a senator who knows how to ask questions. Too often, witnesses deflect and the senator moves on. Ossoff does what a good trial lawyer does—persists until he gets an answer or a refusal to answer. Both responses can be deeply revealing.
Every American needs to be on high alert to Trump’s efforts to restrict voting before midterms. He is exploring every lever of power, from using USPS to withhold ballots to extorting Congress by holding FISA and housing bill hostage

Court has found what we knew all along. Blanche’s “settlement” with Trump providing tax immunity was illegal self-dealing. Trump barred from using it and lawyers sanctioned. Great to see a court call out the corruption.

We already had a deal with Canada, in which it paid to build the bridge and would recoup the tolls until they were made whole. Now Trump is holding up the bridge opening as leverage to coerce more. Mob boss move. No wonder the world hates us.

Focus on whether Blanche has the bare minimum “qualifications” is a head fake. The dealbreaker should be Blanche’s willingness to be Trump’s lawless hatchet man.
One more reason to reject Todd Blanche as AG—he refuses to recognize court’s statutory authority to appoint US attorneys if president tries to circumvent Senate’s advice and consent role. Reject the puppet.

Obtaining phone records of reporters is supposed to be a last resort for DOJ. Obtaining records of their relatives is unheard of. I discussed the legal and policy protocols today with Katy Tur on MSNOW.

Our president took away funds from Americans just because they live in a state that voted against him? That violates his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed.

They really do just want to make it harder for students and Black people to vote, don’t they? Gift link.

Our tax dollars and FBI assets are being expended to investigate already debunked claims of voter fraud in Georgia. Trump’s MO: Just say there was fraud and leave the rest to me.

Clayton’s answer was disqualifying. After recounts, audits, and lawsuits, there is no evidence to support Trump’s fantasies of a stolen election in 2020. Our intelligence services must be above politics.
Even Todd Blanche’s friends know he is too dangerous to serve as AG. His record speaks for itself.
