It would not totally surprise me if the next administration focuses their mass deportation efforts on lawfully present immigrants, leaving our society's most vulnerable workers open to even worse exploitation. While there are reasons to note the fact that this person is a lawful permanent resident, it is not actually any less shocking or terrifying when someone who is not a lawful permanent resident is arrested and vanishes from all official records, leaving their family unable to find them.
