Burnham to Back North Sea Oil and Take Control of Thames Water

Within days of taking office incoming prime minister Andy Burnham is preparing to announce new drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea as well as taking public control of Thames Water.

The Green Party leader was the only party leader to attend the London Trans+ Pride press launch. He spoke exclusively to Scene about the new EHRC guidance, teachers, and why Pride is still important.

On the 5th August, the EHRC's Code of Practice becomes statutory guidance.

It will make life even harder for many trans & non-binary people. It's unworkable & harmful.

Here's what the landlord lobby don't want you to know:

If rents went down by 20%, renters would save £2400 a year. The government would save £2 billion a year.

And landlords would still make 4.5 times as much profit as the average business.

This would be a deeply irresponsible and destructive act at any time.

To do it whilst we're having a third heatwave of the year and thousands of people have just died from extreme temperatures - makes it also politically incoherent.
