If you're fortunate enough to have disposable income, then right now it is your duty to use that income wisely. You have agency over how you spend it and you should own how you spend it.

Your decisions do, in fact, affect stock prices of big corporations.

This is one hundred percent a case of a man completely obsessed with the idea of tariffs being told "no, bad" by every single smart person around him, and the flip to "it's gonna cause some pain" rhetoric was when they finally got through to him.

One of these days we're gonna have to reckon with the fact that "money that I spend which does not directly benefit me is a waste" is a popular sentiment.

One thing that the general public is not that aware of re: Tesla is that *they do not manufacture their own battery cells*

They lease space in their factories for third-parties such as Panasonic.

A lot of people invested in Tesla because they thought Tesla was vertically integrated re: the cells.

I still can't get over the fact that "panels you point at sky and make electricity from sunlight with no fuel is the cheapest source of energy" needed explanation.

The most important thing I can tell everyone that I've learned from being a YouTuber who explains how stuff works is that each and every time I thought "this is common knowledge and doesn't need to be explained" I was wrong.

Not to get all political on you but actually I do think you should be talking to people you know about this

I've been trying to understand why I feel the particular flavor of distressed that I do right now. I think it's because we can no longer discuss the lessons we should be learning from any kind of disaster without the worst chucklefucks coming out of the woodwork to wreck everything.

I think I've found a way to articulate what bothers me about the trajectory of the modern tech industry (and to some extent... society).

We are on this Earth to provide for each other. That's the "mission" of humanity as I see it.

It took this guy 5 years to figure out where the heat comes from but now he's up to speed and on it.

My oven is a pretty standard thing but it has this feature called "rapid preheat" where it will run both the broil and the bake elements together until it's within 50° of your target.

This feature is approximately 700X more useful and interesting than having it connected to the internet.
