The Pope starts closing his AI manifesto by citing Gandalf: “It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.”

The fun part about this is that people online deny that the primary concern is lowering the barrier to entry and worrying about competition, but a lot of the time people actually *in* the industry will just come out and say it lol
