ok I feel completely insane asking this but like

weren't we NOT blowing up rockets, like, 50 years ago. weren't we successfully sending rockets up that did not rattle apart. also weren't we like "ah yeah that was a fail" when the rocket fell apart instead of calling it a "partial success"

i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

The sheer number of videos of the shooting is horrific, but in the vein of what @prisonculture.bsky.social has been saying, it proves how many people cared enough to show up where ICE was and record them. It wasn't just one or two legal observers, and when Good was shot, they didn't abandon her.

part of this is like, conservatives projecting; part of this is conservatives unable to imagine politics without money; and part of this is dudes who are so out of touch with feminized labor that they think children's birthday parties exist as a spontaneous act of parthogenesis

ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

i feel like the viral bus thread resonates because at every step of the way you're like "ok surely this will be resolved shortly, any second now," which seems like what all the passengers are also thinking. then the fact that the situation doesn't resolve and the bus just keeps going is an Allegory

the wildest thing is right-wingers acting like minnesotans in videos must be outside agitators when we can all hear their accents. i don't think i could do that accent convincingly if i spent a year practicing. and neither would i wish to. have you heard that shit? craziest american accent

I think the primary thing I found myself really moved by while in south korea was how the opposition party actually wanted to win at stuff

cringe and disturbing the degree to which american politics is currently influenced by grown ass adults who are still resentful about their SAT scores or something

congrats to bluesky team for building such a successful social media network! i can tell they're succeeding because the numerosity and overall tedium of my reply guys are beginning to resemble height of twitter

listen. I do not report on Korean politics. I'm out here because my (drunk) freelancer requests received a "can't do" so I just set off on my own. this is genuinely the most clumsy scene report possible. I really want to be honest about that.

I would call myself a professional pessimist and "extremely depressed about the future" but god, please stop going into people's mentions to tell them that the law/courts no longer matter or post "AND YOU'RE SURPRISED???" at them, especially so if they are actively engaged in making the world better

saw crowd in portland and my brain just shut down when I tried counting. 50k just downtown maybe? tens of thousands for sure. turnout at no kings in june might have been the biggest action in portland in decades but this one is bigger several times over
