Somewhere, Jeff Bezos is angrily clicking “track shipment” to see what happened to his new editorial page.

This letter appeared in the Bloomsburg PA Press Enterprise this morning. I am assured the writer is who he purports to be, an Air Force veteran.

I did an event in IN a few weeks ago where I said that on 1/6/21 Mike Pence saved the country (for now) by being one of very very few who stood by his principles under maximum threat.

There's a lot going on, God knows, but don't miss that the President of the United States is using the full force of the Federal government, as well as tax dollars, to punish a state because its Governor... refused to do as he instructed.

    I missed this entirely:

The FAA Administrator criticized Space X’s safety record and threatened fines.

    Musk demanded he resign.

    He did.

Not a historian, but to my knowledge, this is the first time a sitting US Senator — or member of Congress, generally — or perhaps any senior US gov’t official — has included an f-bomb in an official press release.

It’s amazing to find out at this late date how much the rule of law depended on people simply deciding, on a voluntary, daily basis, not to break the law.

Right now, Cory Booker is holding the Senate floor like a combination of Jimmy Stewart in "Mister Smith Goes to Washington" and Jerry Lewis in the last hours of his telethon. Compelling viewing! (On C-Span and Youtube)

As we mourn Rob Reiner, don’t skip this: he was, pretty much, personally responsible for overturning California’s Prop 8 banning same sex marriage.

People tend to dismiss VP Pence’s actions on J6: he was just doing his job, why should he get any credit for simply sticking to the letter of the law?

But if it was so easy to do, why was he one of the very few in his party to do it?

A word about Conan O’Brien, who I’m lucky enough to know a little bit.

He is extremely funny and has drawn people to him his whole life by his talent.

But he is also amazingly kind, generous and collaborative. He gave dozens of people a start or a second chance.

This morning I went to John Lewis Middle School to watch a class taught by Brian Greene. 4 days a week he teaches botany. On Fridays, he teaches the kids how to cook using plants they’ve grown in the school’s gardens.

May I suggest something radical? Have mercy on people. Even on here.

What’s happening is unprecedented, so politicians, journalists, public servants etc are doing their best to adjust. Not doing exactly what you think they should doesn’t mean they’re giving up or giving in.

I noted the plaintiff in the case against the military transgender ban that just resulted in a nationwide injunction against it, out of WA state, is Commander Emily Shilling, a Navy fighter and test pilot who transitioned while in the service.

Since I have defended and supported the WaPo in the months since the election and the infamous pulled endorsement, I feel obliged to say: this is very, very bad. A dear friend at a Post vet says it's the worst thing to happen to the Post in its long history, and I can't argue.
