On Nov 6, I decided that, after 50+ years, it was time to walk away from politics. It was getting too hard.
After a break & some sleep, I see that the battle we face is too important.

I’m not making resolutions this year. Instead I’m making plans to protect my physical & mental health as we fight for our nation.

Our foes are ruthless liars, but they can’t defeat us. What we must do is stay aware of the lies & kindly reach out with FACTS.

Here is some truth!

I’ve been living in Southern California for 46 years and the climate and weather have changed drastically while I’ve lived here. There were wildfires before, one of my friends lost her house in 2003, but the magnitude of destruction has increased exponentially.

Of all the souvenirs I have from the 4 years I worked at the White House, this is still one of my favorites. A holiday card sent to members of the staff in 1977, from Jimmy & Rosalyn Carter, who were unique in their regard for the staff.

I’m glad they are together again. RIP President Carter!

I’ve been spending my time resting, reflecting and meditating in one of the most beautiful places in the US.

While it sometimes feels like the sun is setting on our democracy, now is not the time to give up. If we join together & keep telling the truth the sun will rise again.

Several people have asked me how I plan to spend tomorrow?

I will be spending it the same way I've spent many Martin Luther King Jr. days - reading his writing and sharing quotes that move me.

First it was the Rose Garden and now it’s the East Wing. During the four years I worked at the WH it was a thrill and an honor to take my family and friends on private tours of the “People’s House .” This is just heartbreaking.

Cruelty in action…Kristi Noem, proud 14 mo puppy killer, has been confirmed as Secretary of Homeland Security. This department includes borders & immigration enforcement, & responses to natural and manmade disasters. This will provide lots of opportunities to cause pain.

It was great to see thousands of people marching through the streets of downtown San Diego. Even if trump doesn’t care, congresspeople who have been ignoring their constituents & supporting trump/musk would be wise to take notice.

As fires continue to burn in LA County, and are erupting here in San Diego County, the Trump Administration is so focused on rewarding the oil & gas industry that they are denying the damage climate change is doing to our world.

When we first moved to San Diego in 1978 it rained most winters. Fire season was usually September & October but there were only a few big wildfires each year. Now fire season is year round & the fires seem to be much more devastating. Climate change is real & deadly!

I have never been as embarrassed to be an American as I am watching this. Trump & Vance ganging up on Zelensky like schoolyard bullies. It seems they are mad because Zelensky never thanked Trump . Remember, Trump was impeached the 1st time for trying to blackmail Ukraine.
