I just saw this article from @alexandreboero.bsky.social which confirms my thinking about how important it is to build a European digital sovereignty (though I believe it should be based on a decentralized and federated protocol such as ATProto)

I understand your point of view, but to me it also depends on the intention of the app creator. There's a difference between being able to and doing it. For instance, grain and leaflet are different social apps by the fact that they're independent from any other social media app based on atproto

Now that we have more information about wsocial, I can tell it’s more destined to EU politics than any other user. In the meanwhile, some other alternatives (that doesn’t require id check) like eurosky seems more relevant for the average microblogger than wsocial from what I’ve seen
