BBC reporting that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
There is no precedent for a senior member of the royal family being placed under arrest in modern British history. A seismic moment for the monarchy.
Interesting to see so many great British patriots right now begging an American president to bankrupt one of Britain’s last remaining truly national institutions.
We don’t yet know who killed Kirk or why. Not that you’d know it from the endless numbers of accounts on X with huge follower numbers, including British politicians, making as yet unknowable claims about the motivations behind the murder.
Exhibit A. Extraordinary stuff.
Charing Cross Road, pedestrianised today. Glorious. Because whenever you take cars away, cities get better.
Henry Nowak’s father’s words outside court, who is probably the person we most need to hear from today.
Still internalising the Vance Munich speech. A sitting Vice President goes to Europe, barely says a word about the despotic murderous regime which has invaded its neighbour, and instead lectures his allies about freedom of speech. It’d be funny if it weren’t so serious.
Lie after lie has been told this week about how the Ukraine war started, from the Kremlin and the White House.
Here's our News Agents video essay which explains the truth, and spells out why Trump clings so close to Putin and lives in his warped reality.

The unbelievable condescension we’re already seeing today towards working class people- suggesting they don’t travel to Europe or their kids might not want to go to university and study in Europe- is quite something to behold.
This is not what he said and they know it. Something very disturbing has happened to much of the British press and a fair amount of conservative politics. The extremist Musk tail wagging the formerly mainstream dog.
Says a lot that about 90% of the traffic I’m seeing on X right now is absolutely convinced the British govt is about to embark on a mass programme of state murder of the elderly and vulnerable. What was until recently the town square of politics has become the preserve of the bad, mad and deranged.
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.
New piece from me.

Zelensky is being forced to plead with Trump that his own country, which has spent so much blood and endured so much horror, is allowed to be at the negotiating table about its own future. That's where we're at- a return of great power politics.
Putin's best week in years.
Surprised to see so many headlines from news outlets suggesting Putin has agreed to a ceasefire.
He’s done no such thing. He’s basically said he would do in theory, providing his conditions are met, on his terms. Which is just a variation on what he’s always said.
Have written about Starmer's speech- his best moment yet as PM. He implicitly identified what sits at the heart of this story: the emergence of a common UK/US online right, headed by the radicalised Musk.
It is making extremist, until recently fringe politics mainstream in British conservatism.
NEW: Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado awarded Nobel Peace Prize.
Pretty disturbed by some of the Kremlin framing on the Trump talks being bought by parts of the media worldwide. It’s as if the genesis of the war is entirely forgotten. This isn’t a conflict which needs mediation. It was an unprovoked act of aggression. It could end tomorrow if Putin just withdrew.
John Prescott was a politician both behind and ahead of his time. Considered too bluff and old Labour to reach to the very top in the 90s, today his authenticity and class credentials would have been perfect to fight Farage and populism. Labour needs more like him.
The plight of women in Florida is dystopian, including the rise of fake abortion clinics offering the untested practice of "abortion reversal." After the failure of the abortion rights referendum in the state, the situation will get worse. Our News Agents film. www.youtube.com/watch?v=df5B...
Putin says Trump must go further before he’ll even agree to meet.
Putin is entirely in the driving seat. The US has alienated its own allies, given Russia nearly all of what it wanted, bought Putin’s warped view of reality, and can’t even guarantee a meeting. The art of the deal, indeed.
Turns out that a man who entirely baselessly and bizarrely calls a British minister a rape genocide enabler and tweets random conspiracy theories day and night might neither be the most stalwart nor reliable political ally.
A Trump shill on Newsnight claims there are more people in prison in UK jails for freedom of speech violations than in Putin’s Russia.
These people are radicalised, insane, plain stupid or some combination of all three.
Trump has pulled the security of former government officials we know are under threat simply because he doesn't like them. And he's done it at the same time as released a load of very angry, very violent, likely highly armed individuals who are loyal to him.
It is dark stuff.
Starmer: "I think only a few months ago it would have been unthinkable for the things that have been said about Jess Philips without all political parties and the leader of the opposition to call it out in terms...to condemn it..."
