New day, new product on the Atmosphere.

Launching glean.at a Social RSS Reader on @atproto.com.

    What does it mean?

    - Your RSS reader becomes connected to your social graph.
    - See what people like you read, like or annotate
    - Discover feeds or articles you wouldn't have known before

Simpler, easier to read, and more minimalistic.

Looking for a logo / app icon designer for Glean.
I am still not happy with what I am able to create myself.

    DMs are open.

You can get started by importing your OPML from you favorite RSS reader.

Another cool thing is that Glean does not reinvent the wheel, it uses @bsky.app and @tangled.org social graph and ingest @margin.at annotations.

None of this would have been so easy without the openness of #atproto

    Introducing Daily Digests ✨

Daily digests use AI to generate a quick summary of your last unread articles.

Opt-in in your Glean settings today. Never opt-in if you don't want to. We'll never force AI on you.

  7. 11

Glean is self hosted on a maxxed out @frame.work desktop, meaning server costs are effectively 0.

We use local AI models already for article recommendation (embedding models) and language detection (llm).

    bsky.app/profile/glea...

This allows us to soon provide opt-in Daily Digests of articles.

Obviously all your data lives on your PDS (subscriptions, like, annotations).

    Glean only computes the recommendations.
You can self host the whole thing if you want: tangled.org/julien.rbrt.... or use it directly at glean.at

  9. 13

    We've improved our @margin.at integration.
Prior to this it was unidirectional and we would only ingest Margin notes to display in Glean.
Now, Glean annotations are synced as margin.at notes as well, so you can find your annotations back on Margin as well!

    You may need to relogin.

    Claimed our @atstore.fyi page (atstore.fyi/products/gle...).

They managed to create/generate a prettier logo than the one I made 👀

Is it good enough to end the handle war?
PS: Both sign in button do the same thing 😁

Glean runs and uses fairly cheaply the following services:

    - jetstream.glean.at
    - didplc.glean.at
    - collectiondir (not public) (github.com/bluesky-soci...)

We do not run a PDS because generalistic providers are great enough for decentralisation and we don't have to deal with takedown requests.

Yep super happy with the work of @richferro.com

Next stop, allow users to follow @standard.site publications directly from Glean.

    Atproto is great!

    RSS is great!

Annoyed by some feeds not publishing the full article content to their RSS feed?

Not with (self hosted) Glean Social #RSS Reader!

Click the "Fetch full content" button and that's it!

It means you can annotate some articles from your feeds (Glean's annotate lexicon) And if you or some people of your network did annotate the same article you are reading on Margin, it will show up on Glean too.

That's fair. However, the RSS reader user base is far greater.
The idea is to replace Feedly & co, where unlike FreshRSS you cannot easily export your likes (opml obviously).

Let me figure out a better way to word it.
