Incredible news. Illinois Governor Pritzker has signed a law removing testosterone HRT from the PDMP program, a program other states can use to access people's prescription records across state lines.
It will protect trans people in IL from places like TX.

Yeah, but gay marriage was a new right LGBT people were seeking.

Whats worse...
A single Democratic loss in a statewide race to a right-wing governor?
Or a Democratic Party win in Ohio that uses transphobia to get there, teaching dems across the country that this is a new acceptable tactic?
The latter results in no party left to fight for us.

Wild to drop this endorsement in the middle of Amy Acton's exploding controversy over calling trans girls boys.
What if I told you one woman, with little accountability, is wearing the name of the United Nations to launder false anti-trans forum posts into global legal fights, including the US Supreme Court?
Our reporter S. Baum investigates Reem Alsalem in our collaboration piece with The Nation.
The funny thing is, this gambit never works. Republican politicians and orgs are trans eliminationsit - there is no amount of capitulation that works. She will get the same ads run against her, and all she will have done by taking this position is to alienate a meaningful percentage of her base.
When I criticize Dems in the United States who waffle on transgender issues, its because I don't want them turning into Labour UK, who pretty much has fully espoused transphobia and is enacting extreme harm on trans people in that country far worse than the conservatives had done.
Where are all the people that signed the Harper letter? Where is FIRE foundation?
Two notes: This contains no walkback of her support on sports bans, calling trans girls boys, etc.
And then also, her added statement has "sexual orientation" but not "gender identity."
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Amy Acton needs to apologize for her harmful statement and come out against sports bans.

We know what happens when the left of center party embraces transphobia. Look at Labour UK. Trans rights are lost there for a generation. They've got nobody left to fight for them.
We cannot let that same cancer spread in the US in the Democratic Party.

Even if Amy Acton wins, she'll be dealing with a Supermajority R legislature. Republicans will still do what they want.
The upside for trans people across the US is low with an Amy Acton victory.
The downside, allowing this cancer of using transphobia to win, is WAY worse IMO.
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio says in a statement to EITM that it is maintaining its endorsement of Amy Acton despite her calling trans girls boys and saying sports bans are a matter of health and safety.
Notably, the same bill Acton defended also bans trans youth care.
