The thing you need to understand is that there are 2 (TWO) different method for amending the constitution

    1) The process laid out in the constititon itself (conventions, or 2/3's of both houses followed by 3/4 of states ratifying)

    OR

    2) find five votes on the Supreme Court.

So far this year we've had: the warmest winter on record in the mountain west, a record-shattering heat wave in Europe, once in a thousand year rainfall and flooding texas and forest fire smoke blanketing the mid west and the north east. Feels like something's going on with the climate!

Jesus, three dissenting votes on birthright just might be the most insane part of this court's entire awful term.

Amazing how many people over the last few years have moved from

person I sometimes disagree with, to

person I disagree with who is also unpleasant online, to

genuinely bad person whose soul has warped beyond recognition.

the politics of our times are like a solvent for decency.

I’ve avoided a lot of the Platner discourse because it’s a toxic tarpit, but I think the notion that the lesson here is primarily about either one political faction or something essential about “unvetted” newcomers, sits in some considerable tension with the entire Eric Swalwell experience.

At this point I don't really think anyone is even bothering much with denying climate change, instead there's just this insidious loss of interest, and resignation, but the thing is as bad as it is and will get it could still get a LOT worse depending on what we do

This is *exactly* what happened after the reconstruction amendments were added to the constitution and then, basically, deleted by the Plessy court.

Guys, I had a 40 minute BATTLE with my new Hi-Sense TV last night to try turn off motion smoothing and I'm sharing here as a public service.

Sometimes you read an article in the Atlantic from, like, 1876 and it's just mind blowing how good and accessible and *alive* the prose is.

Am I crazy or when we were kids, was *all* food safety energy focused on animal products - raw chicken, mayo, eggs, pork, etc - and zero on produce? I didn’t even know you could get food borne illness from lettuce until adult hood. Is that because things changed and we didn’t have produce outbreaks?
