I want to sincerely thank every single one of my Senate Democratic colleagues who came to the floor, not to just support me, but to share incredibly powerful stories and ask important questions their constituents want answers to.

Time to speak up

A week after my remarks on the Senate floor I am more energized then ever to continue to fight for Americans on Medicaid, Americans worried about Social Security, Americans looking for opportunity in their local economy.

Pete Hegseth is clearly ill-equipped to handle the role of Secretary of Defense. His repeated failure to follow basic operational security procedures jeopardizes the safety and security of our armed forces. He should resign.

As mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka has a responsibility to ensure that facilities operating in the city are adhering to laws that protect the safety and wellbeing of occupants and residents.

The Trump administration called it an “administrative error.” But that error led to a nightmare for Maryland Resident Abrego Garcia.

The power of the people is always greater than the people in power.

Grateful that @governor.pa.gov and his family are safe after an apparent act of arson at his residence. Acts of violence have no place in our politics. Those responsible should be held accountable.

The disrespect for Congress and the law is glaring - and for our nation a threat to our public safety.

Sec. Noem oversees hundreds of thousands of employees across 10 agencies—many with the power to arrest citizens. She should understand what 'habeas corpus' means. The fact that she doesn’t is deeply concerning and raises serious questions: Does she know her job? Has she even read the Constitution?

Every independent analysis is clear: the budget bill passed early this morning by the House GOP will gut essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP for working Americans, and make the ultra-wealthy richer.

We must do everything we can stop this bill in the Senate.

The cuts to the Department of Education are cruel and illegal. This department provides vital services and funding to schools of all levels in all 50 states that are now in jeopardy.

The Constitution is clear:
Congress has the power and responsibility to authorize the use of military force and declare war. Congress has a duty of oversight. Congress must serve as a check, not a rubber stamp to the President.

On these counts, Congress has failed.

These charges are clearly unfounded. Representative McIver was exercising her legally protected authority as a member of Congress to conduct oversight of a detention center that receives millions of taxpayer dollars.

Thank you to everyone who shared their story today on the Capitol steps or online. This is how we will stop cuts to Medicaid, this is how we will stop Trump and congressional Republicans devastating agenda, this is how we will rise.

As I've always said, I will not support a government funding bill that continues to raise our costs, jeopardizes our health care, and hurts the people of my state.

My condolences to everyone in the Catholic faith and beyond who are feeling the loss of Pope Francis today. May his memory be a blessing.

Life-saving drugs should be accessible, not grossly overpriced just to explode unjust profits. It's time to end the practice of these extreme price hikes and the unjust corporate concentration and market monopolization that makes it possible.

We need fair competition and just pricing.
