It’s all ā€œsmall governmentā€ until Austin, Texas tries to pass a plastic bag ban or whatever, and then ā€œthe state must interfere to protect inalienable rightsā€ šŸ™„

I love Quiet Posters. Do you know of any other feeds that help shine a light on posts from your own follows that you may have missed?

Cool resource from @emilymbender.bsky.social and @nannainie.bsky.social for folks looking to use more precise and less anthropomorphic language. This piece includes a bunch of examples for substitutions to support clearer communication!

Please help get the word out to our friends who were working in the Federal Government: Some friends & I created this site to track the impacts of the Trump Admin's attack on the federal service, and we're trying to gather as many stories as possible.

I think it makes sense as a meme because people like to think that America defeated the Nazis, but America has never defeated its legacy of slavery and racism

I usually don't repost these because of lack of alt text, but here's one for this one:

I also think history is rich with examples of "rebels in the Death Star" who used their positions of relative access/power to try to reduce harm, fight authoritarianism, and shine light on abuses.
Maybe we can retell these stories of heroism to disentangle being present and being complicit.

AI is so unpopular with the public in so many ways. Making a big stink about this feels like an easy win for Dems, esp if they use a states' rights angle

Watching @captaindisillusion.bsky.social IRLs on Nebula, and I’m in awe. This ā€œcasual contentā€ is so rich and delivered with polish that exceeds many channels’ main content. What a gift to get to learn from someone so brilliant! (but also it’s okay to take a break and do less polished stuff)

Semi-related: I was trying to track down the source of a popular Nelson Mandela quote & I was unable to find an actual source EXCEPT for a video on YouTube where he does NOT say the words in the quote, BUT they’re in the video description?

If you think it would be accurate, I'd ask you to use language like "Trump's NSF director" in the future. There's already a lot of antagonism pointed at these govt agencies from the right, and if we're not clear about where this is coming from, I think it can inadvertently reinforce that.
